Is Florida Paints actually made in Florida?
Yes. Florida Paints is manufactured in Winter Garden, Florida. With over 60 years of local paint manufacturing experience, Florida Paints formulates its quality interior and exterior paints, primers and other specialty coatings to meet the unique climate challenges of Florida and surrounding regions, ensuring they are weather-tested and expertly crafted for durability.
How is Florida Paints different from Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore?
National brands formulate paint to perform adequately across all U.S. climates, including environments Florida never experiences. Florida Paints focuses exclusively on southern climates, which means every ingredient is optimized for Florida’s specific conditions: UV intensity, humidity, moisture, and salt air. You get a product that outperforms national brands with more of the protection Florida demands, without the additives designed for climates that don’t apply here.
Is Florida Paints available for painting contractors?

Do you carry paint that resists mold and mildew?
Yes. Florida Paints exterior formulations are engineered with the latest mildewcides and moisture-barrier technology to keep surfaces cleaner, longer. This is especially important in Florida’s humid climate, where mold and mildew are a persistent challenge on exterior surfaces, particularly on north-facing walls and shaded areas
What is the best paint for stucco homes in Florida?
Stucco is one of the most common exterior substrates in Florida, and it requires a paint that is flexible enough to move with the substrate without cracking. Florida Paints offers 100% acrylic exterior formulations designed to adhere to stucco surfaces, resist moisture intrusion, and hold up to Florida’s UV exposure and thermal expansion cycles. Visit your local Florida Paints store for a product recommendation tailored to your specific stucco surface and condition.
What is the best exterior paint for Florida’s humidity and UV exposure?
Florida Paints premium exterior line is formulated specifically to perform in Florida’s high-humidity, high-UV environment. Our exterior formulations include UV absorbers, mildewcides, and moisture-barrier technology that national brands engineered for a range of climates cannot match in Florida conditions. Visit your local Florida Paints store to discuss the right product for your substrate, location, and project scope.
What exterior paint colors last longer in Florida sun?
Lighter and medium-tone colors generally retain their appearance longer in Florida’s intense sun, as they absorb less heat and UV radiation than deep or dark colors. Regardless of color, the biggest factor in color longevity is the quality of the paint and its UV stabilizers. Florida Paints exterior formulations are engineered with UV stabilizers that resist fading and chalking far better than products not designed for Florida’s climate.
Does dark exterior paint fade faster in Florida?
Yes. Darker colors absorb more heat and UV radiation, which accelerates fading, especially in Florida’s intense sun. If you prefer darker tones, using a premium paint with high-quality UV absorbers will slow the fading process significantly compared to standard products. Florida Paints exterior formulations are engineered for superior UV resistance, which helps all colors including deep tones hold up better in Florida’s climate.
What sheen level should I use for Florida exteriors?
For most Florida exterior applications, a satin finish strikes the best balance of durability, moisture resistance, and appearance. Satin resists mildew buildup better than flat finishes and is easier to clean. Semi-gloss is a good choice for trim, doors, and high-contact areas where added durability and moisture resistance are needed. Our store staff can help you choose the right sheen for your specific surface and conditions.
How do I stop my exterior paint from peeling in Florida?
Peeling is most often caused by moisture intrusion, inadequate surface preparation, or using a paint not suited for Florida’s climate. To stop peeling, start with thorough surface cleaning and remove all loose or failing paint. Apply a quality primer appropriate for your substrate, then topcoat with a Florida-formulated exterior paint designed to resist moisture and UV degradation. Our staff can help you identify the right primer and topcoat combination for your specific surface.

The most effective ways to extend the repaint cycle on a Florida rental property are to start with thorough surface preparation, apply a quality primer where needed, and use a premium exterior or interior paint formulated for Florida’s specific conditions such as Florida Paints legacy, or SunFlex. Florida-formulated products with strong UV resistance, mildewcides, and moisture barriers maintain their protective properties significantly longer than national brands in Florida’s demanding climate, reducing how often repainting is needed.
